As long as you fuckers get the blame and not the Brits I'm ok with it.

Still needs sorting out in some way though, the propaganda machine is in full flow over there right now and anything said outside of Iran that gets in seems to be met quite quickly with conspiracy theories to discredit them.

The British are evil, the C.I.A killed Nada......... they are making sure the ill informed section of society keeps its hatred of the west.

It's knowing how much of the population is well informed, also is that section of society better equipped to deal with the ill informed section of society should things turn REALLY bad.

Whilst revolution could happen many have been quashed throughout the world with tragic consequences for those involved on the losing side.

I don't know. Not much has come out of that place. The media blackout has become pretty
effective. It's supposedly much more peaceful now, maybe because it's been alleged that the Basij have
been withdrawn now that people are scared to go outside and protest. That doesn't mean that it's over,
or anything. I certainly hope not.

I saw this, too. I liked it.

RIGHT, I UNDERSTAND THE NEWS COVERAGE ANGLE. BUT WHY IN ALLAH'S NAME DID THEY WANT NEWS COVERAGE. I DON'T GET IT. THEY (THE DEMONSTRATORS) WANTED EVERYONE TO STAY OUT OF THEIR BUSINESS, OR SO I THOUGHT.

WHY IN ALLAH'S NAME DID THEY WANT NEWS COVERAGE

Because the revolution will be televised, streamed, twittered, and youtubed; stored in the electronic limbo until the end of time itself. That way, even if it fails, the revolution will live on.

That heavily depends on who you talk to.

While many of the Iranians who like Americans would
still not trust our government (especially during a time
like this), many also know that it's unlikely this will be
resolved without violence, and many know that they do
not stand a chance against riot police and Basij with guns
intent on quelling any uprising.

Beside, even the people who don't want any foreign influence
on their nation and its affairs still want the people of the world
to know what they are going through and what their government
is doing to them. That's a pretty legitimate reason.

If the rest of the world can see their side of the story and theirs is a just position,
it's all the more likely that international pressure would both directly and indirectly influence the decisions made by the oppressors.

If yours is a legitimate cause it seems that any publicity is good publicity,
and quite the opposite for your opponents.

I have no idea.

It's an ayatollah in the parliament, but other than that I can't tell you much other than he is a Mousavi supporter.

He's probably smiling because he's just a nice dude.
At the beginning he talked about how he pitied the
people who were too impatient to merely listen to him,
so I expect he's just a patient and nice person. I meet
a lot of Iranian people like that. When you live in a city
with 18 million people and things like credit cards or a
functioning traffic system don't exist, you learn to be a lot
more patient.

I agree more with Fareed Zakaria on that. If anything it's a consolidation of power with the civilian government and the military, not an actual coup.

Regardless, it doesn't really change the situation there at all.
